Hello,

I'm Oriana Fenwick. Although I was born on 3rd October 1986 (17 at the time of writing) I am really more a mixture of a 5 year old child and a 98 year old woman (living proof that age and time don't exist).

My father is British and my mother German but I was raised in Zimbabwe in southern Africa. I now live in Frankfurt, Germany (and die at school) after having to move out of Africa because of the general political complications plagueing Zimbabwe.

I have been drawing ever since I started breathing - evidence (to my dismay) is my father's favourite drawing of a naked grandfather drawn by me at the age of 2. I've always found drawing extremely relaxing.

From the age of 5 to 8 I had been absolutely obsessed by mermaids. I would attempt to draw them on any surface available or ask my mother (a wonderful artist) to draw them for me. I must very proudly state that the only competition I have ever won was the colouring competition (theme - a mermaid) in grade 2. My interest in mermaids then waned, to make space for The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings which captured every grain of my imagination. My personal favourites are the elves as you might imagine from the images on this web site. They are in a way so similar to humans and yet so completely different, I think that this opposite makes this truly angelic race all the more wonderfully mysterious.

Here's something vital I must tell you...

I don't actually just sit down to draw, with an elf, fairie or angel in mind or a certain picture. I just start to draw and the figure slowly materializes in front of me. This is about as best as I can explain my feelings and the reason why I don't like to force my pictures under any specific title eg. this is a fairie, this is a... This is the only way for the viewer to truly let their imagination run free and not look at something pre-explained by an overall term (I think its like trying to explain a joke - it just loses its effect). But unfortunately (to make things more simple) I had to categorize all my pictures so I just want you to know that it is really, absolutely for you to decide what it is you are looking at.
